Setting Sail to Cuba

We have been preparing and planning our first passage for weeks, and the day has finally come...Tomorrow we will set sail to Cuba from Florida! The boat is ready to go and jam packed with spare parts, provisions, safety gear and gifts for the Cuban people! We plan on departing Key West at 1200 hours on Tuesday, January 23 for the 96 nautical mile ocean passage. With average speed, we should arrive in Marina Hemingway around 0800 hours on January 24 with an approximate passage time of 20 Hours. The predicated winds are looking great blowing out of the East between 10-15 knots and the seas expected to be under 3 feet.

We have heard from fellow cruisers that some groceries are difficult to find in Cuba as they are not able to import anything from the US which is why we stocked up! We have enough food on board for over 3 months! Here our a few pictures of some of the food we have as well as a watch schedule that captain Steve drafted and some meals that are prepped and ready to go so cooking is minimal underway. We will post another update once we are settled in Cuba to let you know how the passage went!

Cheers,

First Mate: Ashley
