People ask us what is it like to be at sea for days without any sight of land? 385 miles across the Caribbean Sea over 3 days has earned us the right to tell you land dwellers what it’s like...
The simple answer would be many highs and many lows. When it’s good it’s great, when it’s bad it’s miserable.

LOWS- Your wet most of the time with waves crashing over the boat, sometimes cold or sunburned, sleep deprived and constantly living an an angle. Simple tasks such as going to bathroom or cooking become a huge undertaking. Not showering for days on end and being completely covered in salt. Most of all, living with the constant fear of the weather worsening or hitting a storm or some critical component breaking on the boat. Most would say, how the heck can it possibly be good???
HIGHS- There is nothing like the remote feeling of isolation that you get from being in the middle of the ocean. Gliding through the sea on a crystal clear night full of stars without light pollution in sight is breathtaking. Sailing into a new county on your own will is an amazing feeling of accomplishment and pride. Traveling solely on the power of the wind is incredible as you power through the bio illuminating waters. Seeing a pod of dolphins jump through the water alongside your boat or a bird follow you in the middle of no where results in awe inspiring moments of sea. Finally, at the end of the passage throwing the anchor down as the boat levels out and comes to a stop and you crack open a cold beer in celebration.
Is it all worth it??......
Ask me within days of a long passage and I will tell you never again! Weeks? My answer would be absolutely, when do we leave??
